Christine Hà was born in Long Beach, California, to Vietnamese immigrant parents who fled Saigon in 1975. She grew up in Houston, Texas, where she developed a passion for cooking, inspired by her late mother. Hà earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and later pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Houston, where she served as Fiction Editor for the Gulf Coast literary journal .

👩‍🍳 Culinary Career and MasterChef Victory

In 2012, Hà made history as the first blind contestant and winner of the third season of MasterChef USA, judged by Gordon Ramsay. Despite losing her vision to neuromyelitis optica, an autoimmune disease, she showcased exceptional culinary skills, defeating over 30,000 home cooks across America .

Following her victory, Hà authored the New York Times bestseller Recipes from My Home Kitchen: Asian and American Comfort Food and co-hosted the Canadian cooking show Four Senses, designed for the visually impaired .
