Hà earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and later pursued a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Houston, where she served as Fiction Editor for the Gulf Coast literary journal .

In 2012, Hà made history as the first blind contestant and winner of the third season of MasterChef USA, judged by Gordon Ramsay. Despite losing her vision to neuromyelitis optica, an autoimmune disease, she showcased exceptional culinary skills, defeating over 30,000 home cooks across America .
